Description

This Homemade BBQ Sauce is smoky, tangy, a little sweet and packed with flavor! I spent time getting the balance of flavors just right, creating a versatile BBQ sauce that works just as well in recipes as it does brushed over grilled meat. It comes together with simple ingredients and is easy to customize to your taste. Use it to coat homemade meatballs, brush over chicken or ribs, or serve it alongside your favorite grilled foods for dipping!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (555 grams) ketchup
  • 1/2 cup (95 grams) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (100 grams) honey
  • 1/4 cup (60 grams) apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (85 grams) molasses
  • 2 tablespoon (30 grams) Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon (28 grams) Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoon (6 grams) smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (3 grams) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (3 grams) onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (4 grams) salt

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a saucepan and sir until well combined.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors come together.
  3. Remove from the heat and let the BBQ sauce cool completely before transferring it to a clean jar. Seal and refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

Simmer with the lid off to allow the excess liquid to evaporate and the sauce to thicken.
